It's World Opinion, Stupid!

GENEVA - On February 19, the European Parliament passed a resolution calling on the US to "halt [its] series of subcritical [nuclear] tests" and asked all other governments "to refrain from carrying out such tests." The US responded by detonating its "Stagecoach" subcritical test at the Nevada Test Site in March. The underground explosion involved nearly three pounds of plutonium and 255 pounds of high explosives. The US plans more subcritical tests in the months ahead.
