Multimedia and Video

In addition to print and electronic publications, Earth Island and its advocacy network produce a range of multimedia, film, and video projects. Some of these are listed below.

  • In the Light of Reverence:
Produced by Earth Island's Sacred Land Film Project, this film explores American culture's relationship to nature in three places considered sacred by native peoples: the Colorado Plateau in the Southwest, Mt. Shasta in California, and Devils Tower in Wyoming. Ten years in the making, In the Light of Reverence juxtaposes reflections of Hopi, Wintu and Lakota elders on the spiritual meaning of place with views of non-Indians who have their own ideas about how best to use the land. The film captures the spiritual yearning and materialistic frenzy of our time.
  • On Nature's Terms:
This film, recently released by Earth Island's WildFutures project, uses dramatic footage and inspirational stories to illustrate how ordinary citizens in both rural and urban America are doing their part to co-exist in harmony with predators. Produced by award-winning film producer John de Graaf, this ground-breaking film makes the important connection between the ecological, economic, and social factors for carnivore species conservation and the necessity of protecting the large connected expanses of land that they need to survive.
