Baikal Watch is a non-profit environmental organization dedicated to the preservation of Lake Baikal and the Siberian frontier.
Since its inception, Baikal Watch has drawn attention to the problems of Lake Baikal and Siberia by:
Acting responsively to the needs of the emerging Russian environmental movement; and
Acting to enhance the performance of local environmentalists by offering them access to information, expertise, and financial support.

NEW! Earth Island and its Russian partners are helping build the GREAT BAIKAL TRAIL, connecting 3 national parks and 4 nature reserves around the lake! We are looking for summer volunteers, generous and hearty souls who would like to spend 2-6 weeks over at Baikal next summer, and team up with local Russians to build this trail.
