JAPAN ENVIRONMENTAL EXCHANGE

Logistical support in Japan for this voyage is being provided by another Earth Island Institute project, the Japan Environmental Exchange (JEE). JEE is facilitating meetings, translation, and press conferences for Michael while he is in Japan. The main office of JEE is in Kyoto; branches have been started in recent years in Kanto (Tokyo area) and the San Francisco Bay Area.
The JEE has been involved in a range of local and international issues since its inception in 1987. This includes rainforest protection, urban recycling, Siberian forest protection, environmental education through language studies, coordination of visits of environmentalists to and from Japan, and many other campaigns.
JEE is currently trying to expand so that it can continue to assist and facilitate international education and activist projects such as these. Needs include establishing a core of volunteer membership that can improve our fundraising ability in the U.S. To become a member and to receive our bilingual bulletins of JEE activities, please see the information below. You may also contact JEEUS representative Serge Glushkoff at: glushkof@garnet.berkeley.edu. Our website, with links to all 3 branches, is: http://www.kyoto-su.ac.jp/people/teacher/andreas/jee
